On January 10, 2025, KIIT Art Academy (KAA) hosted an insightful Masterclass on Publication Media and Photography, aimed at broadening students’ understanding of design, photography, and their applications in the publication and print media industry. This initiative provided a platform for students to explore the dynamic interplay between creative disciplines and professional opportunities in these fields.
The masterclass featured two distinguished resource persons:
- Mr. Deepak Harichandan, National Design Editor at The Hindu. With extensive experience as a Design Editor at The Times of India, The New Indian Express, and Hindustan Times, Mr. Harichandan shared invaluable insights into the role of design in shaping impactful publication media.
- Mr. Shiba Prasad Sahu, Photo Editor at The New Indian Express. A seasoned professional with nationwide experience in photo editing, Mr. Sahu offered an in-depth perspective on the art and significance of photography in modern media.
Students from three schools under KAA—School of Fashion, School of Architecture, and School of Design—actively participated and benefited immensely from the sessions. The masterclass emphasized the relevance of design and photography in storytelling, while highlighting the vast career opportunities in the publication and print media industry.
The sessions were highly interactive, encouraging students to engage with the speakers and gain practical knowledge. The event successfully inspired participants to explore innovative pathways in design and media, reinforcing KAA’s commitment to nurturing creativity and professional growth.
